NPR recently featured LIBD’s novel finding in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), published in the journal Nature Neuroscience. In ASD, individual’s appear to suffer malfunctions in a cell that produces a special coating around nerve fibers that facilitates efficient electrical communication across the brain. This could offer a potential new avenue to treatment.
