Leonardo Sportelli joined Lieber as a postdoctoral fellow in the Networks, Environment, and Translational Genomics lab of Dr. Giulio Pergola. Leonardo’s current research focus lies in applying bioinformatic tools to genetic, gene expression, and epigenetic data. His goal is to better understand the molecular underpinnings of neuropsychiatric disorders.
Leonardo achieved his Ph.D. in April of 2024 in Applied Neuroscience in the Department of Translational Biomedicine and Neuroscience at the University of Bari, where he focused on translating genetic risk for psychiatric disorders in molecular, brain functional and clinical phenotypes. He obtained a M.Sc. in Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine at the University of Bari after preparing his thesis at the Lieber Institute under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Weinberger and Dr. Giulio Pergola.
