John Randall serves as the Director of Information Technology at the Lieber Institute, where he provides strategic leadership for information technology infrastructure, operations, cloud services, security, and research computing. He works closely with executive leadership, scientific teams, and administration to ensure technology supports and advances the research mission.
John has more than 20 years of experience leading IT organizations, including extensive experience in nonprofit and healthcare environments. Prior to joining the Lieber Institute, he directed global IT operations and Amazon Web Services (AWS) architecture for an AI-driven healthcare technology startup. He previously served as the Director of IT Infrastructure at the nation’s largest healthcare quality improvement organization, where he led a distributed team supporting a multi-region hybrid AWS environment requiring continuous operations and strict regulatory compliance.
Throughout his career, John has led large-scale cloud migrations, implemented enterprise governance and security frameworks, and managed multimillion-dollar technology investments while improving system reliability, cost efficiency, and service delivery. His expertise also includes IT strategy, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, compliance and change management, and secure & scalable cloud platforms.
John has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management with a minor in Cybersecurity and holds multiple industry certifications, including Project Management Professional (PMP) and various AWS certifications.
