Spencer Byers joined the Lieber Institute in 2016. He works as a Research Associate under Greg Carr in the in vivo pharmacology team of the Drug Discovery Division of the Lieber institute. His research interests include behavioral and molecular neuroscience, with a focus on translation from preclinical animal models of neurological and psychiatric disorders to the clinic. In Spencer’s past research at the OSUCCC James Hospital he investigated neuronal DNA damage response mechanisms with an ex vivo organotypic brain slice model. Spencer Graduated from Kenyon College with B.A.’s in Neuroscience and Molecular Biology. He intends to apply to graduate school and continue research pertaining to the etiology of neuropsychiatric disorders.
