Titled “Red herrings in the gene pool,” BioCentury Innovations article featured the recent work of Lieber Institute scientists as part of the Translations in Brief segment.

Published last month in the journal Nature Medicine, “A human-specific AS3MT isoform and BORCS7 are molecular risk factors in the 10q24.32 schizophrenia locus,” sheds light on why neuropsychiatric disorders are uniquely human conditions, not shared with even our closest ancestors in the animal kingdom.
