- About Dawn
Dawn Hoelz is a Certified Research Administrator who joined the Institute in 2016 as the Grants Administrator. She manages all non-financial aspects of both pre and post award grant functions. With more than 15 years’ experience processing various grants and contracts in settings such as academia, a private non-profit, as well as a start-up biotech she is pivotal in growing and managing Lieber’s external sponsored funding.
Before joining Lieber Mrs. Hoelz spent five years at the University of Maine. Four of those years were spent in the Office of Sponsored Programs where she was part of the pre-award team and later served as the Proposal Manager. Her last year was spent in the Office of the Vice President for Research as a Grant Development Specialist where her responsibilities were to assist faculty with various needs such as seeking funding opportunities, meeting facilitation for proposal development, connecting projects with collaborators, establishment of timelines, providing grantsmanship advice along with basic copy editing, budget development, administrative coordination of forms and documents, and development and implementation of various grant related training sessions. Prior to the University of Maine Dawn spent two years at the Maine Institute for Human Genetics & Health, two years at the biotech start up CS-Keys, LLC and six years at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
